The act of telling stories has always been a part of our lives. Humans have been telling interesting stories since the Stone Age.And today, after all these years, people have tons of stories to tell and it’s no different inLatin America. A narrative well built, especially online, also helps to conquer business goals – what we call digital storytelling.
What is digital storytelling
Digital Storytelling is the ability to tell good stories through digital platforms, using an elaborated plot, an immersive narrative and audio-visual resources. More than a simple narrative, Storytelling itself is the art of sharing messages in an interesting and unforgettable way.
“Stories told at the right moment never leave you. You can forget the author or the title. You can even forget what happened precisely. But if you identify with a story , it will be with you forever”. (Neil Gaiman – English author of fiction).
Benefits of using it
And why tell stories? Or, more to the point, why tell stories on digital? Stories take the public on a journey of emotion and identification. They seduce the reader.
Stories also represent how we look at diverse facts and make opinions, since we are influenced by how we interpret them. A good story is authentic, creative, makes an emotional and personal connection, inspires action and takes the audience on a journey of change and transformation.
Certain case studies highlight how the use of these tools makes campaigns successful – not just commercially, but also by turning people into faithful clients. Telling stories makes you more human. The difference on digital is that your message can reach many more people that are really interested to hear or read what you have to share.
How to make a good digital storytelling
Content marketing is a way of making online storytelling either in the form of text, video or audio. This strategy benefits both sides: the brand which captivates the target audience and the public which isn’t constantly pressured by messages reinforcing the need to buy products and services.
