In addition to traditional software offerings for private and corporate users, Software as a Service (SAAS) is increasingly being adopted by individuals and companies alike, removing the need to install and run applications on their own computers or data centres by allowing third party providers to host applications and make them available over the internet. This new distribution model eliminates the expense of hardware acquisition, provision and maintenance, as well as software licensing, installation and support. It has been embraced by workforces the world over, promoted by major international companies such as Oracle, Salesforce and Microsoft.
